Global Event

World Cancer Day unites the world's population in the fight against cancer. It aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about the disease.

In Australia, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. Sadly, every day a permanent hole is left in nine Australian families when they lose a man they love to this insidious disease.

PCFA encourages you to get involved and support us in our mission to reduce the impact of prostate cancer on the Australian community.

We can. I Can.

World Cancer Day 2018 explores how everyone, together or individually, can help reduce the global burden of cancer. This can include:

  • Improving treatment outcomes by making positive lifestyle choices, including keeping physically active and maintaining a healthy diet.
  • Taking control of your cancer journey, be empowered to actively participant in care decisions, have your choices respected and needs met.
  • Giving support to someone living with cancer, which can help them better adjust to changes cancer brings and help to improve their quality of life.
  • Sharing your experience to give hope and support for others affected by the disease, and reduce fear around the challenges of survivorship.

How about hosting a Big Aussie Barbie for World Cancer Day?

World Cancer Day is the perfect opportunity to talk about prostate cancer and help raise awareness of this important men's health issue.

Big Aussie Barbie is all about getting together with friends, family and colleagues to encourage conversations about prostate cancer in a relaxed environment.

It's easy to get involved - all you need to do is sign up online and we will send you a welcome pack with information and resources to help you host your BBQ.

Invite a few friends and family around on Sunday 4 February, light up your barbie and start the conversation about prostate cancer.

Workplace BBQs are also easy. Why not host a BBQ at your workplace on Friday 2 February for World Cancer Day, just like Bowls Australia where their staff are getting together to talk about prostate cancer over a delicious BBQ lunch. Don’t forget to ask your company if they can dollar match your contribution.
