Tuesday 28 July 2015: Transport and logistics company DGL Australia has thrown its support behind Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA)'s BIG AUSSIE BARBIE campaign by unveiling specially branded semi-trailer trucks.

Brisbane-based DGL will be branding some of their 13.5 metre long semi-trailers for PCFA’s BIG AUSSIE BARBIE  to raise awareness of the campaign.

The first branded semi-trailer will be unveiled by DGL's Managing Director and Founder John West and PCFA in Brisbane today.

The decision to support the BIG AUSSIE BARBIE campaign and PCFA came from the company's desire to raise awareness about prostate cancer and Mr West’s experience with the disease.

Mr West is a prostate cancer survivor and feels strongly about supporting initiatives like the BIG AUSSIE BARBIE that encourage Australians to raise funds for PCFA and awareness of the disease.

"I have experienced prostate cancer and understand what thousands of Australian families go through when they receive a diagnosis and navigate their way through the whole treatment process. PCFA helps people get through these difficult times and now it is time for our company to give something back to this important cause," said Mr West.

"DGL operates in a very male-dominated sector so this is the perfect campaign for us to support via our fleet. We hope people take notice of our trucks and go onto support the BIG AUSSIE BARBIE campaign in their own ways."

Associate Professor Anthony Lowe, Chief Executive Officer of PCFA, is delighted that companies like DGL are taking the steps to promote the BIG AUSSIE BARBIE campaign.

"We are excited to see the DGL semi trailers on the road supporting our campaign in such a bold way. PCFA relies on the support of individuals and organisations so we can continue to invest in research, support programs and awareness initiatives across the country," said Associate Professor Lowe.

It is humbling to see Mr West taking the opportunity to raise awareness of prostate cancer and support the BIG AUSSIE BARBIE campaign following his own experience," said Associate Professor Lowe.

DGL will also be launching BIG AUSSIE BARBIE branded semi trailers in Sydney and Melbourne over the coming months.
