Hormone therapy for prostate cancer affects relationship intimacy

Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is a common treatment for prostate cancer. This treatment suppresses testosterone, reducing the desire for sex and the ability to have sex. A new study has explored the effects of ADT on mood, sexuality and intimacy for couples. The turmoil of emotional and sexual changes caused by ADT can pose a threat to couples that sometimes leads to the breakdown of marriages.
