Curbing extortionist fees for prostate cancer treatment - by <a target="_blank" href="http://www.afr.com/jill-margo-j7gd4">Jill Margo</a>
In the last few weeks, Mark Frydenberg has had a lot to say to urologists about their fees for treating prostate cancer.
As president of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, he has been travelling around the country discussing the financial burden these fees can place on patients and serious ways to alleviate it. While some men can get treatment for less than $250, others will spend tens of thousands of dollars even if insured.
"The society aims to ensure all patients receive affordable prostate cancer care without financial distress," he says.
