The simple coin box sitting on the shop counter has still got it when it comes to charity donations. Last year, money boxes placed on counters of Subway® Restaurants (SUBWAY) in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, gradually filled with more than $150,000 of coins and notes from charitable customers over just 18 months.
Victoria raised $50K in just 5 months or $10,000 a month. This effort was recently marked by the Victorian team of Subway.
Karyn Foster, PCFA Collections Coordinator in Victoria, thanked the generous SUBWAY customers who donated and the SUBWAY franchisees that opened their doors and hearts to supporting PCFA.
"PCFA relies heavily on fundraising to sustain the work we do. I am always humbled by the generosity of Australian communities who give freely when they know they are supporting a good cause."
"I would also like to recognise the 30 members of the World Police and Fire Games Club (WPFGC) in Melbourne and the SUBWAY team members who worked tirelessly to ensure the money was collected and banked in a timely fashion," Foster said.
Photos were taken with the WPFGC team members and Subway franchisees to celebrate the $50K milestone.
Ben Miles, Communications Specialist for SUBWAY, said the organisation's franchisees are a proactive group of entrepreneurial business owners who recognise the important roles they play in their communities.
"Our passionate franchisees and their teams help support the charities that matter most to them, so they were delighted to play a part in helping PCFA continue their great work," Miles said.
