As for all prostate cancer treatments, external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) can have side-effects. Unfortunately, some patients experience long term bowel, bladder or sexual problems. A new Australian study has used data from a prostate cancer registry to track the rates of these problems in Victorian patients. Their findings provide useful benchmark figures for the chances of these side-effects. But they also picked up regional variations in prostate cancer care that need to be investigated.
