V8 Supercars has confirmed Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) as the official charity for the second year running for the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint, held at Symmons Plains Raceway across the weekend of April 1-3.
PCFA is a broad-based community organisation and the peak national body for prostate cancer in Australia. PCFA is dedicated to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men, their partners, families and the wider community.
More than 3,300 men die of prostate cancer in Australia every year. Incredibly, more men die of prostate cancer than women die of breast cancer.
Associate Professor Anthony Lowe, PCFA Chief Executive Officer is delighted to be partnering with V8 Supercars again this year.
"Getting the message out to Tasmanians is important, given the fact that men who live in regional or rural areas have a 21% lower chance of survival than their city-living counterparts," he said.
"PCFA funds world-leading innovative research into prostate cancer and provides awareness programs and support services to help men, their partners and their families."
The Tasmanian V8 Supercars event naming rights partner Tyrepower has also teamed up again with PCFA nationwide to put some power into the fight against prostate cancer.
Tyrepower ambassadors and PCFA staff will be collecting donations and selling earplugs across the event weekend at Symmons Plains Raceway. All funds raised at the event will support PCFA’s awareness programs.
