PSMA PET/CT scans are becoming important for men with high-risk and recurrent prostate cancer. The current techniques use components that are expensive and time consuming to make. PSMA PET/CT is not only an expensive technique, it requires specialised infrastructure on site to make the fresh radioactive compounds. These challenges restrict the number of people who benefit from the scans. A new technique has been developed to make PSMA PET/CT scans easier and cheaper to perform. This week’s blog looks at the results from the first clinical trial using this process, performed in Australia.
