Crowdsourcing is best known as a way to raise money for a good cause. But medical scientists have been crowdsourcing since well before the term was invented. Worldwide sharing of results and data has been crucial for ground-breaking collaborative projects such as sequencing of the human genome. An innovative new project has used crowdsourcing of expertise to design a better method of predicting survival for prostate cancer patients.
