Active surveillance is now a common management for low-risk, localised prostate cancer. The aim is to avoid or delay treatment until it becomes necessary. A new Australian study has examined data from the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry Victoria to ask how well active surveillance guidelines are being followed. Unfortunately, the results were not very encouraging. Some men might be at risk of missing out on early treatment.
