The annual Pink and Blue Swim/Walk, held at West Beach, has been named South Australia’s Community Event of the Year after raising more than $310,000 for charity since it’s inception in 2013.

Pink and Blue Swim/Walk organisers Lynne Collins and Paul Rafanelli work with the team at the West Beach Surf Lifesaving Club to drive the event, dedicating countless hours each year to make it a success.

This year, the event was held in February, with over 1,000 people taking part and raising $91,000.

The annual event aims to help fund treatment and outcomes for people suffering from breast and prostate cancers, supporting both Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and St Andrews Hospital Breast Care Unit.

PCFA CEO Anne Savage congratulated everyone involved in making the event a success.

“We are so proud to be affiliated with the Pink and Blue Swim/Walk – an outstanding event that is more than worthy of being named Community Event of the Year,” Ms Savage said.

“Each year around 18,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“But with the support of the Pink and Blue Swim/Walk in 2022, we are changing lives for the better. This year, funds raised have been invested into our EVOLUTION Phase II Clinical Trial.

“The trial will test the effectiveness of Lutetium and immunotherapy combined, in a world-first project involving more than 100 Aussie blokes with deadly forms of prostate cancer.

“On behalf of all men and their families, thank you to Lynne, Paul and every single person who has participated, donated, volunteered, or helped raise awareness of the event.”
