Victoria’s longest-standing support group, Ringwood PCSG, recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary. This milestone event, held at Castellano’s Croyden Hotel, was a testament to the enduring dedication and commitment of all those involved over the years.
The evening brought together a diverse group of attendees including current and former group leaders, their spouses, support group members, local MP Will Fowles, early career researcher Dr Laura Porter and PhD students from Monash University, Gabby Beames from 3wbc Radio, Kerry Rendell from Bolton Clarke and Linley Watson from PCFA, highlighting the event’s significance within the community.
“For three decades, our Ringwood group has provided hope, comfort and strength to numerous men and their families grappling with prostate cancer in the community. We remain determined to continue making a meaningful difference in the fight against this disease," said Andrew Blackwell, support group leader.
Heartfelt appreciation and congratulations are extended to all past and present leaders, and members of the Ringwood Prostate Cancer Support Group. Special recognition is due to the current leader, Andrew Blackwell, and his wife Stella, for their passionate continuation of this important legacy. The Blackwell family's commitment to prostate cancer support in Victoria is noteworthy, with Frank Blackwell, former leader of the Box Hill Prostate Cancer Support Group, in attendance. Andrew's uncle, Linton Blackwell, also leads the Baw Baw (Warragul) group, further illustrating their deep-rooted involvement in PCFA’s mission of support and advocacy.
The volunteer efforts of all involved with the support groups make a profound difference in the lives of those affected by prostate cancer in their communities.
