For the first time in October, Adelaide Hills Prostate Cancer Support Group held an awareness space at the Strathalbyn Show.
One of the oldest agricultural shows in South Australia, members of Adelaide Hills Prostate Cancer Support Group saw this as a golden opportunity to raise awareness among local men and their loved ones from the Fleurieu Peninsula and beyond.
Supported by Stephen Milton, Community Engagement Manager for Southwest Regions, group members Peter Roberts and Robbie Morgan manned the awareness stand, engaging with attendees and interested parties eager to learn more about early detection and PSA testing.
“It’s great to have these conversations with the local community. There’s a huge demand for this information,” said Mr Morgan.
Local Strathalbyn resident Mr Roberts agreed with his group colleague.
“It’s our first time here at the Strathalbyn Show with Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and it’s been a very positive experience,” Mr Roberts said.
“To have that one-on-one opportunity for face time with men concerned about their health, there’s no better form of engagement.”
Adelaide Hills Prostate Cancer Support Group and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia also connected with neighbouring exhibitor Rebekha Sharkie, Federal Member for Mayo, who gave their work a proud thumbs up.
