Founded in 2024, our Prostate Cancer Support Group offers a supportive community for men affected by prostate cancer and their partners. We meet regularly to share experiences, offer support, and engage with each other and caregivers. Our meetings include discussions with guest speakers, reviews of PCFA content, and connections with local health specialists and nurses.
Our group advocates for local voices in prostate cancer policy through the PCFA, raises awareness about men's health and prostate cancer to promote PSA testing and early detection. We also host Men’s Health Awareness seminars and participate in local events.
We hold casual monthly meetings and more formal bi-monthly sessions, available in-person and via Zoom. Supported by health professionals and specialist nurses, we aim to assist all men affected by prostate cancer, especially younger men. Our members, who have undergone various treatments, provide peer support to newly diagnosed individuals, helping them navigate their journey in a non-clinical, supportive environment.
Affiliated with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, we have access to a wealth of literature and resources for our members and recently diagnosed men. Our focus is on support and information sharing, without interfering in the doctor-patient relationship or offering clinical advice.
