About Us

Receiving a prostate cancer diagnosis is a life-changing experience—not just for the individual but also for their loved ones and community. Each journey with prostate cancer is unique, and navigating the complexities of treatment options can be both daunting and confusing. Choices may include surgery, radiation, hormone therapy and other treatment options, or active surveillance and watchful waiting, each with its own risks and potential side effects.

In addition to your healthcare team, many men find it beneficial to connect with others who have faced similar challenges. Our support group is centrally located at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, providing a safe space for sharing experiences and information.

What to Expect at Our Meetings:

• Open Dialogue: Engage in conversations in a relaxed and confidential environment with others affected by prostate cancer.
• Peer Support: Meet men who have navigated their own prostate cancer journeys. Hear their stories and learn about the paths they chose, the outcomes, and their lives today.
• Personal Sharing: Share your own experiences, concerns, and feelings if you wish, and connect with others who understand.
• Inclusive Atmosphere: Spouses, partners, and family members are warmly welcomed.
• Guest Speakers: Benefit from occasional talks by guest speakers and professionals who provide valuable insights into prostate cancer.

Meeting Details

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 10AM-Noon. There are no meetings in January. The November meeting is held on the second Tuesday due to the Melbourne Cup.
