Formation

The Support Group was established in March 2011 to provide support and information to prostate patients and their families. The Group acts as a forum for prostate topics, to provide access to prostate information and to contribute towards community awareness of the Group and its role.

The Group is affiliated with PCFA, Latrobe Valley City Council, Department of Human Services, Australia Independence Health Solutions, Latrobe Community Health Services, Department of Veterans' Affairs, VVCS and ESO's in the Latrobe Valley Area, Moe, Morwell, Churchill and Traralgon areas.

Activities

Our group publishes and distributes flyers, general information material, along with local media reporting, and this includes details of our monthly meeting dates and guest speakers. Our meetings provide an opportunity to discuss prostate issues, exchange experiences and ideas and provide support to prostate cancer patients before, during and after treatment.

Our meetings are open to all and wives / partners / carers / family and friends are encouraged to attend. We have a range of leaflets, pamphlets, books and DVDs on prostate cancer medical issues, and associated issues which are both informative and relevant to men diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families. These are available for borrowing either at our meeting or by contacting one of our contact members shown above.
