Prostate Cancer isn't just an old man's disease.

At age 42, journalist and dad Will McDonald was hit by aggressive prostate cancer. Confronting his treatment head on, he then also decided to compete in an Ironman event.

"The first time I sat in a 'chemotherapy chair' I remember an overwhelming sense that this was 'my fight'," Will says.

"No one could take the medicine for me, but I was fortunate to have so many people supporting me and helping me get through it. I had wonderful people in my corner.

"Almost 3 years later when I completed my first Ironman, I had a similar, yet different feeling. No one could complete the 3.8km swim for me. No one could push 180km on the bike pedals for me. And no on could do the strides of the 42.2km marathon for me.

"It helped me achieve a boyhood dream. And it helped me prove that life can still be good after a cancer diagnosis, so Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia can do its amazing work helping men with this awful disease live better and longer lives.

"Crossing the finish line I knew this wasn't 'My Ironman'... This was 'Our Ironman'."
