Members of Gawler Prostate Cancer Support Group converged once again on the Gawler Fair in Pioneer Park, to raise awareness and community support for prostate cancer.
First held in 1976, the event is organised and run by the Rotary Clubs of Gawler and Gawler Light with support from the Town of Gawler.
The aim of the Fair is to enable local organisations to showcase themselves to the wider community and collect funds for their upcoming activities. Participation for community groups is free and provides exposure to hundreds of community residents.
Having managed the Gawler Prostate Cancer Support Group stall over the years, Group Leader Lynton Carle believes this was the best one so far!
“It went really well. At the last minute the organisers had to change our stall site as they had a late entry to squeeze in. This worked in our favour as the adjacent stall was empty, so we had a lot more room than in previous years,” said Mr Carle.
“I think we spoke to more people than in previous years as well. We also gave away lots of the PCFA badges and a number of the booklets.
The Gawler Prostate Cancer Support Group meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month (excluding January) at Gawler Health Service. For more information or to attend an upcoming meeting, visit https://www.pcfa.org.au/support/find-a-support-group/gawler-pcsg/
