The Copper Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group joined up with local fundraiser and Gulf FM personality Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, for the recent Mates Trivia night in Kadina on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula.
With a huge range of donated prizes from local and interstate brands including Shippy Hardware, Blue Steel Boots, Moonta Hotel and Spencer Gulf Searoad ferry, attendees raised over $1800 for prostate cancer support and research.
“The Trivia Night was a success and people can’t wait for the next one,” said organiser Mr Hughes. “We had 20 businesses and organisations who have helped in one way or another, most with prizes for the night.
“And I am so proud that all the work that we have done could raise $1819.30, I was happy just to get over a $1000. And not only did we raise those funds, we were able to amplify awareness about prostate cancer. I personally had the chance to talk to four guys about prostate cancer and advise them to speak to Brenton Sutton, leader of the Copper Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group on the night, as he knows more than I.”
Mr Sutton agreed the evening was a huge success and favourably highlighted awareness of prostate cancer in the community, something the support group leader is passionate about.
“Hughesy’s Trivia Night was a great idea for combining all the core reasons for our existence as a support group - promoting our existence as a support group and being a focus of support,” said Mr Sutton.
“It was a wonderful event and looking forward to the next.”
